JANUARY

 
1st Oath of Office Ceremony 12:30pm.The 2008 Oath of Office Ceremony for Mayor Gary W. Lopriore, Members of the Common Council and Fire Department Officers will take place at the Drew United Methodist Church, 49-51 Sussex Street. Light refreshments will be served following the ceremony.

State of City Address

 The mayor will give his State of the City Address at 7:00 pm in the Council Chambers - second floor of the Municipal Building.

MARCH

 
8th Annual Tricky Tray Hosted by the Business & Professional Women Club of Port Jervis. Trick Tray to be held at the Port Jervis High School Gym. Doors open at 12:00 pm and calling begins at 2:00 pm.
22nd Easter Candy Dash 11:00 am Church Street Park. Sponsored by the Recreation Department.
     
 

APRIL

 
12th Spring Clean - Up 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Clean up at various city playgrounds. Sponsored by the Recreation Department. Volunteers needed. Call 858-4045.
26th Arbor Day 10:00 am. A ceremony held to celebrate National Arbor Day. Designated tree area will be Graeb Point - Downtown Port Jervis.
     
 

MAY

 
4th 15th Annual Delaware River Run 9:00 am The Race begins and ends at the Depot. For more info. Call 856-4045.
4th Delaware River Antique Fair 10:00 am - 5:00 pm. Downtown Front Street. Live music, food and antiques. Sponsored by The PJ Tourism Board. Fro vendor info or more information call 856-2727 or 858-2810.
17th Great Strides Walkathon 9:00 am - A 2.7 mile walk to benefit cystic fibrosis. To be held at Riverside Park.

JUNE

 
8th Port Jervis Soapbox Derby All day event. Watch the kids race soapbox cars and enjoy a fun filled day with games, food and more.
TBA Flag Day Program 6:30pm Flag Day Ceremony to be held in front of City Hall.
     
 

JULY

 
4th 10th Annual Reading of the Declaration of Independence 6:30 pm The annual reading will be held at Riverside Park.
 
12th Port Jervis Annual Firemen's Parade Lineup starts at 1:00 pm. Parade begins at 2:00 pm.
19th Arts Walk 11:00am - 7:00 pm Local artists line up their collections along the streets of the Downtown District for an open market venue. Live entertainment, food vendors and more. Come and support the Arts!
TBA Community Picnic 1:00 pm - 4:00 p.m. Sponsored by the religious institutions in the community to be held at the Riverside Park.
17th, 24th, 31st Summer Band Concerts 8:00 pm. Port Jervis Annual Summer Band Concert held at Farnum Park on Ulster Place. Free admission. Come bring a lawn chair or blanket and listen to the band play all time favorite melodies.
     
 

AUGUST

 
7th, 14th Summer Band Concerts 8:00 pm. Port Jervis Annual Summer Band Concert held at Farnum Park on Ulster Place. Free admission. Come bring a lawn chair or blanket and listen to the band play all time favorite melodies.
5th National Night Out Against Crime 5:00pm - 10:00pm. To be held at Riverside Park. Games, Food and Fun for the entire community. There will be a march open to all former and future DARE students commencing at 6:00 pm. Contact Kelly Decker 341-3135.
     
 

SEPTEMBER

 
28th Annual Fall Foliage Festival Held at the Downtown Business District. Crafters, Food, Live Entertainment, and Antique Car & Motorcycle Show. Sponsored by the Tourism Board. 10am - 5pm

TBA 14th Annual Tri-State Classic 10K 8:30am  US Track & Field Certified race through three states to be held rain or shine. Starts in Montague, NJ through Port Jervis and ends in Matamoras, PA. Sponsored by the Tri-State Chamber of Commerce. For more info call 856-6694.
26th 63rd Annual Halloween Parade 1:30 pm Lineup in front of City Hall. Come dressed up and ready to march in the annual parade. Parade concludes at Farnum Park with donuts and cider for participants. Sponsored by the Recreation Department.
     
 

NOVEMBER

 
11th Veteran's Day Parade 10:00 am Parade commences at PJ Middle School, continues down East Main Street, makes a left onto Pike Street and concludes at Orange Square.
15th Fall Leaf Sweep 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Clean up at various city playgrounds. Sponsored by the Recreation Department. Volunteers needed. Call 858-4045.
 

DECEMBER

 
6th Annual Tree Lighting 6:00 pm The annual tree lighting held at Graeb Point. Including visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Hot cocoa and doughnuts.
7th Rick Drew Holiday Parade Lineup 1:00 p.m., kickoff 2:00 pm. 36th Annual Rick Drew Holiday Parade held in the city and finishes at Airport Park, Matamoras, PA. More info to come.
